The Pools of Vegas Splash Open

by Eric Miller on April 13, 2011

It’s April and the warm, sun-drenched resort pools of Las Vegas have started to open!

From serene European-style sunbathing to DJ driven frenzies, in a crowded market of diverse sun-worshipers, each Vegas resort strives to offer its own unique spin on the timeless summertime pleasure of basking poolside under a warm sun. The heavenly bastions of cool water, plush cotton towels and glistening skin do a good job of offering something for everyone, along, of course, with the elixir of your choice!

The Grand Opening of DayDream at M Resort is April 16th

From the M Resort on the south end of the Strip, all the way down to the Golden Nugget downtown, the pool season is on in Vegas and each resort is hard at work shaping its own brand. Here is a brief review of some of the most enticing:

The DayDream Pool Club at the M Resort promises to offer live music and the high-end in luxury for adults this spring and summer. Opening Saturday April 16, DayDream offers a rare opportunity for out-of-towners to relax and mingle with upscale, fun-loving locals.

For those wishing a little refined, sophisticated, au natural sunbathing, there are a variety of discreet and classy venues including Bare at Mirage, Venus at Caesars Palace, and Liquid at the new Aria.

For the younger party crowd, there’s Naked at the Artisan Hotel (featuring “Fingerprint Saturdays” and “Wasted Wednesdays”) and starting April 30, there’s “Bands, Bikinis and Burgers” at the very affordable Silverton Resort just off the I-15 and Blue Diamond Highway. The Silverton will be kicking off their 2011 pool season April 30 with the Afghan Raiders and Red Eye Radio. Regular favorites, “Rehab” at the Hard Rock returns Sunday April 17 and the Palm’s infamous “Ditch Fridays” begins May 6.

Although we did touch near 90 degrees the first weekend in April, daytime highs in Vegas for the month average from the mid-70’s to mid-80’s. In May, daytime highs average from the mid-80’s to mid-90’s. In other words, absolutely perfect, especially when there’s a light, dry breeze from the west.
